China Trip 2005
2005-06-22, 4:37 p.m.

I'm finally here to complete my chem blog. Don't understand? Nevermind. =P Just gonna blog on my trip to China, Guizhou.

Day 1 (14/6)
There was a small celebration of birthdays on this day, including my sister's, had cakes and all. Fun. We were at Xiamen, shortened, min3. The temperature was rather saddening, very similar to Singapore's, HOT! =P Did a half day tour at this place, went to temple, park (where the celebration was) and to the beach. That reminded me of sentosa, was rather different though, and there were (as usual) no cute guys. 3D life huh. >.< Dinner at 6 PM (Early!!), everything was. errrrrrr. Prawns were great. Finally, took a domestic flight to Guizhou, arrived at 12 AM. WOOT. -.-!

Day 2
We had the prettiest and pro-est tour-guide of the entire tour group. Whahaha. =P Really good at talking, was telling us abit of their dialect (supposed to be all mandarin huh), told us what were their equivalent of Chiobu and Shuaige. Chiobu = Nail in chinese, nail as in hammer..nail. And shuaige? Hammer! Lol. That was rather amusing. Then our first spot was the Yellow Fruit Tree Waterfall (direct translation >.<), and the Sky Star Hole (direct again! >.<). It was a good 2 hr walk each, uphill mind ya, tiring. =P Oh, and coincidentally, i met Rongyao and Meixian with their mum and uncle. This world is so tiny. Then we had dinner, as disgusting as usual, then to the next hotel. 3 stars, not too bad, but the building was quite cool. Fireflies!

Day 3
The main attraction for this day was seeing mountains. This entire province has like 87% of mountains, 10% of valleys and rivers, and flat land, 3%. Meagre. So we were seeing mountains at every single step. Not a sight you'll ever find in Singapore. So we went to this protected area of mountains, to see, mountains. -.-! As they say, 3% of view, 7% of imagination. (sounded much nicer in mandarin) So we were first led to that place by police escorts (bigshots. =P), then had a tour guide by people living in those areas, all of minority groups. Apparently, some poet once made an anology of this scene to pawns on chess board, and asked this question, who dares to play this game? I wonder.. And i realized, there are cute guys in China, quite a few, probably due to selective view. XD

Day 4
Highlight of the day was the walk along this deep valley walls. That was quite fun, but rather dangerous, the tiles were very slippery due to the waterfalls, there were about 20 of them, big and small. My sister fell down, poor darling, i only got really wet. My poor jacket for the day, protected the back of my shirt and my camera. It was really lovely, fog, water, bits of greens, damn, they look damn good. =P The walk was also about 2 hr, my sister and i returned in 1.5 hr, slacked in the bus eating lychees. Lol. Returned to the hotel we stayed in on Day 2, no fireflies this time, it rained. Explored that area, nothing much really. Boring.

Day 4
First we took a half hr boat ride (rowed, not motored) into this cave called the dragon palace. Woah, lovely place. There were 5 sections of the cave which had different names, like the dragon's karaoke room and what not. Amusing. But the most striking thing about the place is the natural rock forms on the walls. These required less imagination about what they looked like. There were a few good classic, like 5 dragons hanging from the ceiling (staglactites), the pig hanging upside down from the Chinese famed fable, and the frog who never jumped. The frog was described as cowardly, been in that crouching position for thousand of years and never had the guts to jumped. That was really funny. XD Then we were brought this a city called An Shun, famed for dog meat. =.= and intricate carvings on jade and crystals. Went to the jade place first, got a crescent pendant which cost S$56, stuff here are kinda cheap, but nothing attracted, as they say, no fate with the jade. =P Then to the hotel there, lovely grand they've got there. We were told not to go out at night if possible, not very safe, it's also a place known for 3 things, drug trafficking, jade, crystals. From the first, you can see why it just ain't safe at night. Lol. The best part was when i was at the hotel, went to the lobby at about 7+ PM, saw this (rather cute) guy playing the grand, omg, so pro! Turned out he's working there part time as the lounge pianist. Found out a few things about him, 23 yrs, male, (cute), pro, don't understand english, like the sea, in university doing engineering. Lol. He could play almost every single song people requested, of which the most requested for song was "A Maiden's Prayer". He was so good, i'm so jealous. -.- He was very interested in what Singapore's like, heard that there weren't much taught about this tiny country there. =.= With the love he had for the sea, he'd never seen one. Poor darling. Lol. Got him to play some recent pop songs with the guitar scores he had with him, so zai. -.- Well, that'll probably be the first and last time i'll see him. =( His name? Liu2 Fa4 Jin1.

Day 6
I broke my specs. =.=!!! Luckily i brought a spare pair, don't know what made me bring it anyway. I was at this village of a very poor minority group, they do this in Guizhou. Due to the large number of poor people, mostly from the minority groups, they do this rotation order. There will be one village in good order, proper houses, and the nearby villages of these people gets to stay there for 2 yrs, in these 2 yrs, they will perform and try to get enough money to build a school to stop poverty from the roots. So we went, and they performed, was quite fun besides how i got dragged up 3 times. -.- There was this guy (the cutest in there XD) who looked alot like a friend in Malaysia, whom my other friend complained he wasn't cute, probably because he was with 2 better looking guys. Lol. Took a photo! =P That's about it for the day.

Day 7
I can't really remember what happened, nothing striking in this two days. Lalala~ Just remembered, took a 2 hr domestic flight from Guizhou to Peking, then waited 3 hrs till the international flight took off for Singapore. Finally arrived at Changi Airport at 5:20 AM after a 5 hr flight. Boy, was i tired. Went straight home and to the hawker centre next for a good filling bowl of laksa. Mmm, Singapore has good food. =P

That's it for the trip besides the photos i brought back, it has been really fun and enriching. Good trip. Switzerland next. XD! That's enough of blogging for now too, LONGGGGG entry. Cyaz~
